On November 29, 2013, the Grand Canyon experienced a rare meteorological event that filled the Grand Canyon with fog. Cool air rose from the bottom of the canyon and met the warm air from above creating a thick carpet of fog. Known as a temperature inversion – the phenomenon lasted until temperatures were warm enough for the fog to dissipate.
